To create a great landing page, here are 10 Steps you can follow:

The design of your landing page is very important. You need to create a site that will promote confidence in your potential customers. You don't want to look like you just slapped something together in 2 minutes. You want to provide visitors with an eye-catching design that promotes the product and doesn't get in the way of what you're trying to sell.

In the design phase you'll need to create a custom header for your product you wish to promote. You don't want to add an image with a hot car on it if you're trying to promote green tea. It just doesn't go together and visitors will get confused. Promote your product through your design.

A great way to keep people focused on your offer is to show your information in lists or in a bullet format. You want to have your information handy and easy to read. People don't want to slog through paragraph after paragraph of content - they need to find the information quickly and lists allow for this.

Rmember in your design to keep a good amount of whitespace on your page. When you design your landing page you don't want it crammed full of images and offers. You want the visitor to be able to look at the site, know what it's about and click through to buy your product. The less distractions you have on your page the better.

When you're designing your landing page remember to let your Headings stand out. Put the headings in a different colour from the rest of the text. A very popular colour to use is Red. It stands out on a page and is a great way to get people to focus on important information on the landing page.

2. Fast loading Landing Page
Keep this in mind when you're designing your site. You want people to access the page's information as quickly as possible. Don't over-burden the page with too many images or flashy plugins. Keep it simple, with a good amount of whitespace and great content.

3. How many offers?
This is easy. Keep your landing page to one offer per page. Don't confuse your visitors and don't give them options to leave the page. You want to keep them interested for as long as possible and the only option you want to offer them is the option to purchase.

4. Testimonials
When you are designing and writing up the content of your landing page you want to instill confidence that the product you're marketing is good and worthwhile. A great way to do this is to offer a few testimonials on the page from happy customers. If you can find real customers who've used the product - that is the best way to do it.

5. Keywords
Oh yes, you can't forget about the keywords. This comes into play on feeding the spiders that visit your website and set you up on their search engine results pages. This is very important to keep in mind when you write your content. You need to research your keywords about your product and pick the ones that will offer the best results. A great tool you can use for free is Google's Keyword Tool. Here you can check if your keywords will get you the traffic you're looking for - by letting you know how many people search for those specific keywords. You will also get a list of similar keywords - that you can add to your list and use later on down the road if needed.

6. Feed the Spiders!
Yes, even with landing pages you can get organic searches from the search engines. Taking your keywords and putting those words throughout the page's content is a great way to scoop extra visitors to your landing page without having to spend more on PPC (pay-per-click). When you do select the keywords you want to use, try to limit the number to around three and then use them through the content.

7. Writing the content
There are a few things to keep in mind when you write your content for your landing page. One, when you're writing keep in mind the keywords you want to use on your page. How many keywords should you pick from your list? As mentioned above, start off with three keywords and use them through out the paragraphs, and remember to keep the content genuine and easy for people to read and not just the search engines. Give visitors reliable information about the product and avoid the "sales lingo" as much as you can. Two, a great way to convince visitors is to offer a list or paragraph about the benefits of the product - or offer solutions to real problems that the product you're promoting can help with. Also as you're writing you'll want to create a sense of urgency to buy - such as "Limited Time Offer", etc. You should also make it easy for the user to order the product. Links in a different colour work as well as easy to click big buttons to the product you want to sell.

8. Give them more than they expect
Who wouldn't like a bonus when they buy your product. When you offer your product you can offer more information, such as a quality ebook or newsletter. If people feel they're getting a great deal, they're more likely to click and buy your product.

9. Split Testing
When you're developing your landing pages a great way to optimize your conversions is to create two pages offering the same product - but trying different ideas. Try not to go overboard with the changes between pages, because you want to know what it is that is making the conversions better on one than the other. It could be as simple as changing your link colours. Or it could be changing the header image. Changing one of your keywords. Small changes - can definitely win some big conversions and a good way is to test your landing pages and go with the one that works the best.

10. Stats for your landing pages
This is very important to know how people are getting to your landing pages, what's working and what isn't. You'll be able to see if your keyword selection is having the effect it should. If you're using PPC marketing (which most people do with landing pages), you'll see the referring URLs to know if your ads are working. Google Analytics is a great stats tracker and with this program you can set up goals for your site's conversions.
